Visit Sim's Village
One of the most memorable experiences for many of our clients is a visit to Sim’s Village, Som Rong. It is a 30 km journey from Siem Reap into provincial Cambodia. Meet Sim’s family and lots of children from the village, visit the village farm and maybe the family’s rice paddies a little further on. Enjoy a home cooked traditional meal in his family home. Sim’s family are very welcoming and you will all enjoy a wonderful day together.
Sim’s great dream since leaving the monastery is to help the children of his village learn to speak English – to give them a better chance of finding employment. His challenge is to create a physical environment at his family’s house to accommodate up to 60 children and adults in an after school FREE English Class. At present he runs several classes a week. He pays (from his tour guide fees) a qualified school teacher to teach the classes and he provides assistance. Sim is very proud to offer this service and will enjoy telling you all about it. You can find out more and how you can help at Thrive Cambodia.
Cost for this day is: Sim’s fee, the taxi and a $10-20 to help pay for the food provided by Sim's family.

Mount Kulen, Cambodia's most sacred Mountain
Spend a whole day or half visiting Kulen Mountain. Kulen Mountain is Cambodia's most sacred mountain because once a leper king was healed of his disease by bathing in these waters. There is a huge Buddha carved from the rock at the top of the mountain, an imprint of a giant Buddha's foot print, temple and hundreds of lingas carved into the riverbed. (not to be confused with Kbal Spean which is commonly known as the River of a thousand lingas). Enjoy a traditional lunch in one of the streamside kiosks and then climb to the bottom of a the water falls and swim in the rock pool, immersing in the holy waters.
Although the entrance fee to this mountain is expensive at $20US per person, it is a fabulous excursion. It can be done in a little over half day, but don't rush it if possible!
